The perspective in which Humph placed himself was to play old tunes from his early fifties trad-style band using his band of the late fifties, by which time he'd incorporated Duke Ellington into his music. He realised this would upset many fans but explains in the sleeve notes that it wouldn't be jazz if he stuck to the tried and tested.
